BY WEDNESDAY, Audra was worn out and ready to scream. She’d just finished the final modifications to one of Simply Sensual’s hottest designs for Bea. Now, the lilac lace screamed down-and-dirty sex instead of sweet, demure seduction.
It wasn’t leather, but it’d suit Bea to a tee. She just hoped Bea wasn’t disappointed. Her friend seemed to be putting a lot of hope into this guy’s promises. Promises that sounded too good to be true.
Not that she hadn’t cared about her friend’s welfare and happiness in the past. She just didn’t know how to interfere without sounding like an uptight idiot. As a rule, the three Wicked Chicks tended to live by a sink-or-swim policy, never interfering with or advising the others.
She thought of the final adjustments needed for Bea’s last outfits.
Discontent weighed at her shoulders.
She didn’t want to work.
No, what she wanted was Jesse. It’d been a long time since Friday night. Much too long since that delicious orgasm on the back couch. Even the barrage of erotic dreams she’d been enjoying all week weren’t enough to satisfy her anymore.
She wanted Jesse.
She pulled a slip of paper out of the back pocket of her denim skirt. The creases were worn fuzzy, and looked about ready to rip apart from her unfolding and folding it. She stared down at the angular scrawl. Jesse Martinez—cell. Seven digits to delight.
She never called guys. Not out of any ladylike reserve, but because she never had to. But now? If she couldn’t have Jesse’s body, she’d settle for his voice.
Battling down nerves, she grabbed the boutique phone. Then, doubts racing through her head, she put it down and hurried back to the office for her phone. If she got lucky and it was a long call, she didn’t want to have to hang up if she had to leave the boutique for any reason.
Cell phone in hand, she looked at the numbers again.
Two rings later and his deep voice was on the line. Anticipation made a heated journey through her erogenous zones. Audra settled in the plush chair toward the back of the shop and relaxed for the first time in days.
“Have you ever played Truth or Dare by telephone?” she asked in her sexiest voice.
Silence.
Then, “Audra?”
“How many other women are you playing phone sex games with?” she teased.
He laughed and she could almost hear his shrug. “I guess only you. Although, I have to admit, I’ve never seen Truth or Dare as a sex game.”
“Then let me teach you the right way to play.” Audra scanned the empty shop. She wanted to go back to the dressing room, take off her clothes and lay down on the leather couch. She could almost feel the cool grip of the leather against her hot, naked skin.
But it was still a half hour till closing. Damn this streak of responsibility.
“Is it a lot different than regular Truth or Dare?” Jesse asked.
“Just a smidge. Are you alone? Somewhere you can get comfortable?”
“Yeah,” he said slowly. “I’m home alone. How comfortable?”
“Comfortable enough to touch yourself,” she said in a husky voice.
